How to Perform MOPs with the Excellerator PT Driver
Quick Start
Preparing the Patient:
- Evaluate the treatment area on the patient
- Have the patient rinse 2x with chlorhexidine for the duration of 1 minute each
- Anesthetize using either topical or local infiltration
Preparing the Driver:
- Before inserting the Excellerator PT Tip, ensure the driver is assembled and has been fully charged
- Open the rotating latch on the back of the contra-angle and insert the blue side of the tip first into the contra-angle head, rotating until flush. Close the contra-angle latch.
- Turn the driver on by pressing the POWER button
- Set the torque to 20 Ncm by pressing the TORQUE button
- Set the RPM to HIGH by pressing the RPM button
- Ensure the reverse indicator is off (REV not visible)
Performing Micro-Osteoperforations™:
- To begin, place the driver so that the tip is perpendicular to the treatment area, with the driver display facing you
- Press the START/STOP button to start the rotation and apply gentle pressure to engage the tip into the attached gingiva
- Press the START/STOP button again to stop the rotation
- Press the COUNTER CLOCKWISE button until the reverse REV indicator comes on
- Press the START/STOP button again to start the reverse rotation, until the PT tip disengages from the attached gingiva
- At the completion of the treatment, remove the single use tip and dispose of it appropriately. Be sure to power off and charge the driver for your next use.
Patient After Care:
Acetaminophen should ease any minor discomfort. It is important to avoid Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDs) as they have been shown to inhibit orthodontic tooth movements.*
